Eco Centre

Great Aycliffe Town Council has developed an Environmental Education Centre that is available for various environmental, education or outdoor purposes.

The centre is located at Moore Lane (View On Map) and includes:

  • A classroom facility for environmental education and associated activities.
  • Disability accessible toilets.
  • Substantial parking facilities.

The Centre is well located to provide environment activities. There is a fenced childrens’ play facility that provides an ideal place to teach environmental education and games in a secure location. There are also substantial woodland, wild grassland, scrub and wetland habitats that provide a mixed resource for teaching purposes.  The extensive amenity grassland that surrounds the Centre is both a resource to allow children to learn in an outdoor setting and to burn off some energy.

The Centre is used as a base for various activities for groups such as:

  • School visits
  • After school clubs
  • Holiday clubs
  • Community group activities
  • Public events
  • Countryside volunteers
