Party in the Park.Following the success of last year’s Party in the Park (organised as part of the Aycliffe Festival) a further event has been organised for Friday 14th July from 7pm until 10pm in the Town Park.
Working in partnership with the Durham Brass Festival, the event will be host to a variety of brass bands and vocalists from around the world with performances across a range of genres including jazz, blues, rock, pop, indie, traditional and classical.
This year’s festival will welcome acts including the Grammy nominated Hot 8 Brass Band, the multi-award winning Fairey Brass Band, Oompah Brass, New York Brass Band, Funky Style Brass, Beat ‘n Blow, Always Marching Band and Les Traîne-Savates. These acts push the boundaries of brass bands with audience involvement and interaction between the public and performers.
If you would like a preview of what to expect, there will be a roving performance around the Tesco area the week before the party takes place.
Music Night at Newton Aycliffe Working Mens’ Club
The Music Night at the Working Men’s Club will run again this year following its success in 2015 and 2016. The music will come from headliners Ocean who are a well-known local 4 piece band specialising in Pop and Rock classics.
Band members are Richard who plays rhythm guitar and is the main vocalist, Mick is the lead guitarist with Adrian playing bass guitar and Paul on the drums. Ocean are to be supported by Micky Rich another local performer. With Ocean and Micky Rich on the same bill it has the makings of yet another great night out.

Synthetic Ice Rink
A synthetic ice rink holding up to 45 skaters at once will be placed in the Town from 24th – 28th July. Skates for children starting at size 9 and adults up to size 13 will be provided as well as baby blades and polar bear skate aids for young children. Plans are still being progressed for this activity and further information will be available soon.
Full STEM Ahead
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) will be held in the Recreation Centre, Newton Aycliffe on Tuesday 18th July from 9 am – 2.30 pm.
The event will host a series of science, technology, engineering and maths interactive presentations to excite and enthuse the young people into the world of engineering as a career.
