The final Great Aycliffe Show
The Great Aycliffe Show is the largest of all the events organised by the Council. It has been held on Saturday and Sunday mainly on the August Bank holiday each year. This is the very last Show and we hope you enjoy what we have in store for you.
Browse the menu tabs on your left to see specific areas of the Show, but whatever your area of interest you’re sure to have a great time at the Really Great Aycliffe Show.
The two-day show has something of interest for all members of your family from the very young to the not so young. There is a wide variety of professional and amateur entertainment in the main arena. For 2014 you can look forward to seeing the spectacular motorcycle stunts of Jason Smyth’s Adrenaline Tour as well as Big and Little and a marching pipe band.
The North East Strongest Man competition will be held in a separate arena next to the main arena. See under competitions for more information.
New for 2014 is ‘Quercus Live’ which will allow you to become involved in an artistic event with workshops at Greenfield Arts Centre before the Show and also encourage participation of visitors at the Show to create pieces which will be used in the finale in the arena on Sunday. See Quercus Live on the menu to your left for more information. This is sponsored by Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership.
On the showfield there are free or subsidised activities as well as fairground rides, lots of indoor and outside stands, free face painting and Punch and Judy shows and much, much more.
