Further Information

Admission to Primary schools

Durham County Council is the local education authority and application forms and information to enable you to apply for a school place for your child can be found at Durham County Council. Primary admissions can also be contacted on 0191 383 4574 / 4490

Absence / Attendance

A register of all children attending the pre-school is kept by the staff.  If your child is unable to attend Pre-School for any reason, please make sure you notify us. Parents themselves must telephone, or send a text or email. Due to safeguarding a telephone call or a message passed on by another parent is not sufficient.  If no communication is received from the parent we will enquire about the child, this ensures that all children are safe and accounted for.

Regular attendance is important so that the children can benefit from the experiences and learning on offer through the day.

Clothing

Children have the best fun when they are doing creative work, or playing outside, we ask you not to bring children in their best, or expensive clothing, as accidents do happen.

We provide protective clothing for the children when they play with messy activities; we encourage them to gain the skills that help them to be independent and look after themselves.  These include taking themselves to the toilet and taking off, and putting on, outdoor clothes.  Clothing that is easy for them to manage will help them to do this.

We hope that you and your child enjoy being members of our Pre-School, and you both find taking part in our activities interesting and stimulating.  Our staff team are always ready and willing to talk with you about your ideas, views and questions.

Snacks

A daily snack is included in the fees; this is healthy and nutritious, which includes items such as fruit, vegetable sticks and dips or toast, both milk and water are available at snack times.  Water is available to all children throughout the day.
