Aycliffe Youth Council

Aycliffe Youth Council consists of young people aged between 11 and 19. They must live in Newton Aycliffe, School Aycliffe, Aycliffe Village or Middridge or go to school in Newton Aycliffe and spend most of their spare time here to be eligible to join the Youth Council. Young people are generally elected or put forward by their school.
The Youth Council members receive training and meet at least twice a term. The young people get involved in a wide range of issues and are also able to attend local Police & Communities Together (PACT) meetings to represent the views of young people and listen to the concerns of the residents; Town Council meetings to put their views forward and other community meetings where a young persons input may be helpful.
Aycliffe Youth Council has a budget and give small grants to organisations on the town who meet the criteria and are providing services or facilities for other young people. For information on how to apply for a grant please contact Amanda Donald.
