Accessibility

This website is run by Great Aycliffe Town Council, developed and provided by Urban River. We have undertaken extensive work to ensure we are as accessible and compliant with the accessibility standards as possible.  We have published our Accessibility Statement  to let you know where we are and what we do to meet the accessibility guidelines.

In web terms, Accessibility is generally used to describe the degree to which a website or application is accessible by as many people as possible. Accessibility can be viewed as the “ability to access” and possible benefit of some system or entity.

When creating websites, Urban River regard accessibility as of great importance, and strive to make every site as accessible and usable as possible.

For this particular site, the following accessibility measures were taken:

  • CSS and HTML validates to W3C standards
  • Site layout has been designed in a way to make browsing simple and straightforward.
  • Site navigation allows users to easily identify what page they are viewing.
  • The HTML code has been structured in such a way to allow screen readers full access to the site.
