Planning

Durham County Council is the planning authority for Great Aycliffe.  As such, the Town Council is only consulted on planning matters in our area.

All planning applications are considered by Members and any application which may be contentious, for new buildings/housing or large industrial work is reported to the Planning Sub-Committee.  All Town Council comments can be found by viewing the appropriate minutes.  The Planning Sub-Committee is open to members of the public and dates and times of meetings are advertised in the local press and on notice boards.

The Town Council may object or comment on a planning application.  These comments are passed to Durham County Council for consideration when processing the planning applications.

If you have a query regarding any planning applications, Durham County Council makes all planning applications available on its website.
