Former Councillor Malcolm Iveson Obituary
It is with sadness that the members and staff of Great Aycliffe Town Council record the passing of former Councillor Malcolm Iveson on Thursday 13th February, after a long illness.
Malcolm gave many years of dedicated service to local residents, serving as a councillor on Sedgefield Borough Council and Great Aycliffe Town Council.
He was a long-time member of Great Aycliffe Town Council, serving for a number of years alongside his wife, Sarah, and brother, Bill, and was elected Mayor of Great Aycliffe in 2003/04, before standing down at the last elections in 2021.
During his time on Great Aycliffe Town Council, he held a number of roles, including Leader of the Council, Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee, and also Chairman on a number of sub-committees and working groups.
Malcolm took his responsibilities as a councillor very seriously, working with a determination to help anyone in need, a dedication which was also reflected in his Rotary membership. Anyone who knew him also knew of his main devotion in life – his love and care for his family.
