St. Oswald’s Pre-School

Welcome to St. Oswald’s Pre-School. We are operated by Great Aycliffe Town Council who prides itself on its reputation for providing high quality care and education in the Pre-School.

The Pre-School originally opened in the 1970s as a playgroup it was then registered with OFSTED in 1998 to provide early years education. Our current Ofsted reports.

The Pre-School is located in the Park pavilions in the beautiful grounds of St. Oswald’s Park, in Wren Close. We now have two buildings within the Park one for two-year-olds and one for three-year-olds. The Park is a lovely setting for the Pre-School with plays areas, grassed areas and any amount of flowers and trees.

The children in our care are our highest priority, and we will endeavour to ensure that they are safe, happy and make steady progress and develop during their time with us.

We provide the Early Years Foundation Stage, which sets out the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five.

Children can attend the Pre-School from their 2nd birthday, and educational funding is available for the term after a child’s 3rd birthday. Great Aycliffe Town Council endeavours to keep the cost of the Pre-Schools affordable to all parents / carers.

We operate a waiting list, which is kept in date of birth order, to ensure all applications are treated fairly and equally.

We are registered for 40 three-year-old children and 12 two-year-old children and provide a mixture of full and part time places.

Children attend the same sessions each week, if parents wish to change their child’s sessions they must give one months written notice.

If you wish to apply for a place please contact the Pre-School Manager on 07974 704213.

Children can attend for either a morning, afternoon or all day, during school term time only. Our opening hours are:-

Morning 8.45 am to 11.45 am

Afternoon 12.30 pm – 3.30 pm

All day 8.45 am to 3.30 pm

Please note that children who stay all day must bring a packed lunch.

Our staff team are fully trained and dedicated to providing high quality care and education for your child. Our staff: child ratio is a maximum of 1 adult to every 13 children aged three, and 1 adult to every 4 children for two-year-olds, as set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early years Foundation Stage and is adhered to at all times.

We pride ourselves on building strong and effective partnerships with all our parents and carers. This helps ensure that parents are confident that their child is happy, safe, well cared for and stimulated at all times.
