Big enough to matter small enough to care
Pre Schools

Welcome to our Pre-Schools

Great Aycliffe Town Council prides itself on its reputation for providing high quality care and education in the Pre-Schools.

The Pre-Schools originally started as playgroups in the 1970’s, they were then renamed and registered with Ofsted to provide early years educations in 1998.

Our Pre-Schools are located in St. Oswald’s Park and Woodham Burn Community Primary School, and they are both open during school term time only.

Our Pre-Schools are open to all children from their 3rd birthday, and educational funding is available for the term after a child’s 3rd birthday.  Great Aycliffe Town Council endeavours to keep the cost of the Pre-Schools affordable to all parents / carers, and with this in mind our fees have been frozen for the last two years.

We operate a waiting list for both Pre-Schools, which is operated in date of birth order, to ensure all applications are treated fairly and equally.

If you wish to apply for a place please complete an application form.

We provide flexible hours to meet your individual needs; however flexible places are limited and will depend on our capacity, at the time.

The children in our care are our highest priority, and we will endeavor to ensure that they are safe, happy and steadily progress and develop in their time with us.

Our staff team are fully trained and dedicated to providing high quality care and education for your child.  Our staff: child ratio is 1 adult to every 8 children, as set out in the Welfare Requirements and is adhered to at all times.

We provide the Early Years Foundation Stage, which sets out the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five.

We pride ourselves on building strong and effective partnerships with all our parents and carers.  This helps ensure that parents are confident that their child is happy, safe, well cared for and stimulated at all times.

Both Pre-Schools are registered with Ofsted who regularly inspect the Pre-Schools.  We also work closely with Sure Start County Durham, where we receive regular visits from a Link/Advisory Teacher and other professionals.  We also take part in the Durham Scheme for Supported Self Review, which evaluations the quality of our provision and sets targets for development.
