Landscaping of Stephenson Way Cemetery is well established and provides suitable shelter and privacy to visitors.
Detailed plans and registers are kept in the cemetery office and may be referred to in the event of difficulty in locating any particular plot, however please note that the cemetery office is not permanently staffed. A full list of all graves is available from our Burial Records page and a drawing of the cemetery is available from the Stephenson Way Map. Or View area on Google Maps
Pedestrian access to the cemetery is available through the side gates from dawn to dusk. Vehicular access can usually be gained from 8.00 am until 4.30 pm Monday – Thursday and 8.00 am until 3.30 pm on Friday. The vehicular gates are closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Pedestrian access is permitted outside of these times on evenings and weekends.
The cemetery gates will be closed when funerals are taking place. Staff will notify visitors to the cemeteries by placing a sign on the gates at least 24 hours beforehand. We ask that residents respect this so family members are able to attend their loved one’s final journey whilst maintaining social distancing and limiting the visitors to the cemetery.
Any visitors in the cemetery will be asked to leave 30 minutes prior to any services taking place.
In the absence of Officials on site enquiries can be made at the Town Council Offices located in School Aycliffe Lane during the following hours:
- Monday to Wednesday 8.45am – 5.15pm
- Thursday 8.45am – 5.00pm
